STOP PRESS !!!!!!!

Taking onboard the considerable feedback that has been received it has been decided to stick with Point-a-Rally (PAR) scoring - aka American scoring - for the coming season, however each game will be to 15 points

Clearly the big talking point is the move to Point-a-Rally (PAR) scoring - aka American scoring - for the coming season. To summarise this means:

Matches will still be the best of 5 games but each game will be to 11 points, using the PAR system. This is where every rally is a point, regardless of who served. So if you serve and lose the rally, then your opponent gets a point and gets to serve. If the score reaches 10-10 the game will be won by two clear points (there is no choice available to either player).

The suggestion to make this change was put forward at the AGM. There was a lot a debate about it but eventually the vast majority were in favour of it.  It seems certain that all levels of Squash are moving to this method of scoring – it is “when,  not if”.

It will be interesting to see how you all take to the change throughout this season.

This season we have exactly the same number of teams competing as the last time out. The Premier Division will continue with the format of playing opponents three times

Once again Appleby Frodingham Squash Club are sponsoring the 3 Man Leagues. As I said last year this really does  underline their commitment to support and develop local Squash. With 8 teams in the leagues most of us will have the opportunity to visit and enjoy playing at the Scunthorpe Club during the season.

Have an enjoyable season
